Went for a session called 'I hate to tell you this, but.." It aims to correct our misconceptions of the faith that christians have. I'm refreshed and challenged again after attending the session. many things to think through.
Ya... And a few days ago, I went for a retreat. Our national director gave us good insights which I can still remember til now. He taught from the example of Timothy.
Timothy was facing difficulties in his service.
Lessons drawn were
1) Be faithful
- Sincere in faith (serving with a correct motive)
- Well-spoken of (by parents, siblings, friends etc)
- Passionate for the gospel (went through the circumcision [alot of pain] so that he can preach the gospel with Paul to the Jews)
- Concern for others (in Philippians, Paul described of his genuine concern for other people)
- Well-taught in truth (from infacy he was well-taught 2Tim3:14,15)
2) Be enduring (2Tim 2:1-7)
- Focus in Purpose (like a soldier - not distracted)
- Obedient in Principle (like an athlete - not taking the easy way out/short-cuts)
- Diligent in Process (like a farmer - not giving up during times of difficulty)
One thing that he quoted from someone which I thought was reali interesting
"Wherever you lead I follow, whatever you give I swallow"
Nice one..
Y'day, played boggle at woc. I'd reali miss boggle. sobs.. haha.. I won one of the rounds because of the plural forms of the words.. hahah. Boggle.. Yeah..
Then went to popular at cwp to get a file and organiser. No time to lose. Gtg.. Band meeting later. Haiz.. Alot of sins to confess. Heez.
Am realli sitting down to think through my goals for the new year and for my dear students. =)

This morning I woke up curious what the 12 days of Christmas are. Always stucked at five. So I decided to check on the web. Guess what I found. The twelve days of Christmas iS actually from Christmas to Epiphany (Jan 6th). It has some catholic meaning. According to the website (which claims that the origin is true), they said 'It is more than just a list of twelve silly gifts. Catholics in England during the period 1558 to 1829 were prohibited by law to practice their faith either in public or private. It was illegal to be Catholic. [Note: Parliament finally emancipated Catholics in England in 1829.]
"The Twelve Days of Christmas" was written in England as one of the "catechism songs" to help young Catholics learn the basics of their faith. In short, it was a memory aid. Since the song sounded like rhyming nonsense, young catholics could sing the song without fear of imprisonment. The authorities would not know that it was a religious song. Actually, the catecism to which it referred was rather ecumenical so could probably be claimed to be protestant if cornered.
The song's gifts had hidden meanings to the teachings of the Catholic faith. The "true love" mentioned in the song doesn't refer to an earthly suitor, but it refers to God Himself. The "me" who receives the presents refers to every baptized person. i.e. the church. The partridge in a pear tree is Christ Jesus, the Son of God. In the song, Christ is symbolically presented as a mother partridge in memory of the expression of Christ's sadness over the fate of Jerusalem: "Jerusalem! Jerusalem! How often would I have sheltered thee under my wings, as a hen does her chicks, but thou wouldst not have it so..." '
